Welcome

Hi … I’m Larry Hagewood, CEO of GRIDiant Corporation. Thank you for taking time to visit us through the Internet. I know the web can be impersonal so I want to introduce GRIDiant to you with a “hello” and a “thank you”. I’ve been working in the utility industry for over thirty years. It is undergoing change unlike any other time in its history. Although people outside of our industry often think that the industry doesn’t use or know much about technology, I disagree.
Over the years, I’ve sold and installed marvelous technologies such as distributed control systems for power plants, network management systems for transmission, intelligent systems for substations, outage management systems, customer billing systems, asset management systems, network security systems and the list goes on. As you are aware, these technologies are very advanced. Now identified as “Smart Grid” technologies, they are receiving well-deserved attention, support, and widespread deployment. So, our industry is not technology adverse … we simply are technology careful. We try a few and if one works, we buy a lot. If a technology doesn’t work, then we move on.
Our industry is different from all others. If a pharmaceutical plant production line breaks down and doesn’t produce pills for an hour, probably only the company is affected. If a brewery company is short of hops and stops making beer for an hour … no matter, to most of society. But, if a utility’s power delivery is interrupted for a mere split-second, never mind an hour? The calls to a utility’s call center describe clearly the broad and often urgent adverse consequences. Today’s electricity-driven communications, security, public safety, industrial, and commercial financial systems require ever-higher power quality and reliability. So, we are — we must be — a careful industry!
GRIDiant Corporation was founded specifically in this awareness. Our people are power engineers and planners and operators. We’ve walked in your shoes. We actually know what it’s like to wrestle with conditions that could lead to a blackout. Not many companies can say that. Out of our experience, we’ve built a product suite we call GRIDmaster, because it offers a utility total mastery of its grid. GRIDiant has spent over three years creating this enterprise-level application. Our engineers have developed and used it as a tool for use in real-life situations with real-life data. We built it step-by-step … carefully and painstakingly.
The results are spectacular. A three million dollar investment in GRIDmaster by a medium-sized IOU will return about twenty million dollars a year … and every year after that! The GRIDmaster product suite also works well for municipals and co-operatives, as the product suite has been designed to scale from three thousand buses to three million buses — a two hundred and fifty thousand dollar investment by a smaller utility will result in a million dollar return, year after year.
GRIDmaster is designed specifically to leverage other Smart Grid technologies to enhance careful grid management, deliver unprecedented grid efficiency, and improve grid reliability. Using the data reported by increasingly intelligent SCADA, AMI, smart meter, and distributed generation systems ever more widely deployed in the grid, GRIDmaster tools will allow a utility to constantly monitor and swiftly analyze the grid’s performance, identify and take optimized corrective action (with an engineer’s or operator’s approval) when indicated, dispatch generation, storage, or load management resources, and adjust and heal itself, if it can. Sometimes the long-term healing requires one or more capital improvements — GRIDmaster will give you prioritized options, in terms of both relative projected grid performance improvement and relative costs. Using GRIDmaster, a utility now has the ability to make its smart grid…BRILLIANT!
I hope you will find our website stimulating and engaging. I invite you to contact us with your further inquiries.
Cordially,
Larry Hagewood
